Neil Lennon is surprised that he is not facing upto Derek McInnes tonight.

A week ago the Aberdeen boss was about to miss training after his club rejected an approach to take him to Ibrox.

For 48 hours it seemed that McInnes was bound for Sevco with barely a voice heard suggesting that it would be career suicide to work with Dave King.

Last Thursday Aberdeen announced that their boss was staying leaving Sevco with egg on their face and back to square one in their search for a new manager.

Lennon welcomes the Ibrox outfit to Easter Road and thinks that off the field problems are hampering their bid to find a new boss.

It’s difficult for me to comment because I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes,” the Irishman told The Sun.

I was surprised Derek turned it down but there were obviously personal and other reasons for not taking the job.

It is a bit peculiar that a club of that stature, it’s taken them so long to find a manager, but they will feel it’s important that it’s not just a short-term fix.”

They’re still in the embryonic stages of building to try and get back to where they were, and that takes a bit of time.”

Graeme Murty will be in charge of Sevco tonight and is likely to remain in control until the end of the year.

Having gone on record that they would be appointing an in work manager with experience of Scottish football Sevco have painted themselves into a corner in their hunt for a new manager.

If Murty can avoid any severe defeats it’s looking very likely that he’ll be left in charge until season ticket renewal time.
