John Hartson believes that the Sevco board are getting an easy ride after a series of disastrous decisions.
Eight months after giving Mark Warburton a three year contract and transfer war-chest the former city trader was told that he had resigned.
That mistake was compounded by the most left field appointment possible when the fifth best coach in Qatar was recruited and handed a £10m war-chest.
Pedro Caixinha has gone but with a number of Latin flops sitting on lucrative contracts whoever takes over is inheriting some major problems.
Last week, after intense speculation, Derek McInnes said no thanks to picking up the baton of dignity with Sevco now facing a transfer window without a permanent manager.
Hartson has never been slow to voice his opinion and is scathing about the Ibrox decision makers.
“Caixinha wasted a lot of money on duds so it’s going to take someone more than Derek McInnes to go in there,” the former Celtic striker told The Sun.
“They need a transition. They need better players and they need a board that trusts the right person to bring in the right manager.
“Whoever appointed Caixinha and Warburton are the people who should be held accountable. The players just go out and try to do their best but if Rangers are going to keep appointing managers who are nowhere near good enough or stable enough to manage that massive club, then why aren’t the people making those decisions being held accountable for their mistakes?
“It’s easy to blame the manager and point the finger at the players but it is the decision-makers.
“Someone is sitting nice and pretty behind it all watching the storm build up. They are the ones responsible.
“These people are making the big decisions but we never seem to see them.
“If you are a new manager going in there, then you want to bring in some of your own players and get rid of a few you don’t fancy.
“They are pretty much back to square one again but the good thing is they are picking up results. While that continues it keeps people off your back.”
Sevco’s recruitment committee are believed to be drawing up a list of managerial targets to interview.
