Jason Holt would love to see some new faces at Ibrox next month.

Seven defeats in 21 SPFL matches tells a grim story of the season to date that also saw Sevco crash out of the Europa League and Betfred Cup.

Holt has been partnered in recent weeks by Young McCrorie but with Ryan Jack due to return from suspension Graeme Murty will have some big decisions to make before facing Motherwell tonight.

Murts will have complete control over January transfer matters but it’s highly unlikely that there will be any worthwhile players coming in to Ibrox.

Jordan Rossiter and Nico Kranjcar have been picking up massive wages for very little contribution on the park but despite reality Holt is hoping for new signings when the transfer window opens on Monday.

We could do with adding a few players,” the former Hearts man told the Daily Record. “That is evident on the park. We need a few bodies in different areas but that is not for me to decide.

Any additions would be welcome. We have big players missing through injury and suspension. If we can get them all back it would help us.”

After back to back defeats from St Johnstone and Kilmarnock the pressure is on Sevco tonight to avoid a third successive SPFL defeat.

Murts will be in charge for the first time at Ibrox on a permanent basis but is under pressure to deliver results rather than management sound-bites.

Lee Wallace is in contention to face Celtic on Saturday but it’s unlikely that Bruno Alves will have recovered fully from his mystery injury in time for tonight or the trip to face the champions.
