According to a report in the Daily Mail the Hibs midfielder is on Brendan Rodgers’ wanted list.
The Celtic boss is looking to bring in fresh faces this month but would be looking to move a few players on before signing another midfielder.
Ryan Christie and Scott Allan are both out on loan while Liam Henderson and Eboue Kouassi have barely featured in the team this season.
With 18 months left on his contract now is the optimum time for Hibs to sell McGinn who was the subject of interest from Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest.
Gordon Strachan gave McGinn his international debut while playing for Hibs in the Championship with West Ham also believed to be keen on signing the former Saint Mirren man.
If McGinn signed he would be eligible to play for Celtic in the Europa League ties against Zenit St Petersburg.
