Angry McCann hits out

Neil McCann launched a blistering attack on John McGinn and referee Don Robertson after watching Hibs beat Dundee 1-0 at Dens Park.

The Scotland midfielder scored the only goal of the game but the Dundee boss felt that McGinn should have been off the park.

As a Sky Sports pundit McCann was a supporter of the honest mistake and that these things even themselves out over the course of a season.

Since moving to the dug out his opinion appears to have shifted.

I’m angry because John shouldn’t be on the pitch,” the furious Dens gaffer told the Daily Record.

I would argue he is probably Hibs’ best player but it’s a cynical foul right in front of the referee and he decides it’s a wee trip and isn’t a yellow card.

He booked Jack for a similar thing but John escapes a second. It’s an absolute disgrace. That advantage would have helped us but we didn’t get it.

I am sick of arguing with referees, I was desperate for him to come over and explain it but I couldn’t believe his explanation.

He didn’t deem it was a promising attack and it was an innocent trip but he’s coming in at pace, you see it in the footage – he has cleaned him out.

I know I am going on about one incident in the game but that could have been a turning point.”

It seems that managing a team that lives within it’s means is taking it’s toll on the former Scotland winger who enjoyed great success with a team financially doped up to it’s eyeballs.

During his time with Rangers (IL) McCann was paid a £500,000 EBT that wasn’t declared to the football or tax authorities.

After surviving their second administration in 2010 Dundee have lived within their means, declared all payments and kept up to date with HMRC.
