Celtic are believed to have made a €3m offer for Dusko Tosic of Besiktas.
Turkish website Aksam has reported the move in much the same way that news broke about Marvin Compper’s move to Celtic emerged in Germany.
Besiktas value the 23-year-old Serbian internationalist at €4m but that sort of difference should be able to be negotiated around.
Despite signing Compper and the emergence of Kris Ajer Brendan Rodgers is believed to be keen to bring in another central defender this month.
The hoops boss spoke out earlier this season about his frustrations over injured central defenders and sent Erik Sviatchenko on loan to Midtjylland yesterday.
Tosic has been a regular in the Besiktas defence this season with the Turkish side reaching the last 16 of the Champions League.
Those games would make the 23-year-old ineligible for Celtic’s Europa League matches against Zenit St Petersburg but if a deal goes through it would indicate how serious Rodgers is to prepare for next season’s European qualifiers.
