Kilmarnock are the latest SPFL club to slam Sevco’s public attempts to unsettle a player.

After word leaked out about a bid for Jordan Jones the Ayrshire side rejected the insulting offer for the 23-year-old internationalist.

Rather than conduct transfer activities in a businesslike manner Sevco prefer to allow details into the public domain in the hope that it creates unrest causing the player to demand a ‘dream move to his boyhood heroes’.

“There’s been a bid, nowhere near acceptable,” Steve Clarke confirmed. “ I would be a little bit sad if I was the player, to be honest, that the bid was so low. It was an easy one for the club to turn down.”

Hibs were the first club to be subjected to this type of negotiating when Scott Allan was the target with Mark Warburton in charge.

Last summer Jamie Walker was subjected to similar treatment without a reasonable offer ever being made, the midfielder recently joined Wigan Athletic who weren’t his boyhood heroes.

On Friday news of an approach for Greg Docherty of Hamilton was highlighted by the favoured news outlets with a formal offer for the midfielder still to be made.

Most publicly there was a six week campaign to undermine Derek McInnes before the Aberdeen boss rejected the chance to take over as manager at Ibrox.

So far in the transfer window Sevco haven’t paid a penny in transfer fees.
