Craig Levein launched a blistering attack on Willie Collum after Hearts were held to a 1-1 draw by Motherwell yesterday.

A goal scored deep in stoppage time by Curtis Main ended Hearts’ run of eight clean sheets with the Tynecastle boss looking at the referee for excuses.

“The infuriating thing was the two penalty claims,” Levein told BBC Scotland. “When Willie (Collum) sees them he’ll be disappointed he missed them.

“The point about that [tackle on Callachan for first penalty claim] is that Willie said to me at half-time that their player got a touch on the ball.

“Well, if you look at the angle their player’s approached from, it’s impossible for him to have touched the ball, because it would have gone off at right angles.

“So he’s got that wrong. He maybe thought he saw a touch, but there wasn’t and when he sees it again I’m sure he’ll recognise that. The second one is a blatant handball, he’s moved his hand towards the ball and blocked it inside the box.”

Two years ago former Hearts boss Robbie Neilson said that he trained his squad to play with ten men ahead of games that were to be refereed by Collum.

It looked like the Jambos were on course for full points when David Milinkovic opened the scoring in the 80th minute but six minutes into added time Main earned the visitors a point.

Despite claiming that the natural order had been restored by beating Hibs 1-0 in the Scottish Cup last week Hearts are trailing their Edinburgh rivals by four points in the Premiership table.

On Tuesday night Levein takes his side to Celtic Park with Steven Naismith likely to be rested after starting three matches in six days after signing on loan from Norwich City.

Craig Thomson will referee the Celtic v Hearts match.
