Murty hits back

Graeme Murty has hit back at Kris Boyd’s criticism of Sevco’s transfer policy.

Almost identical processes have been followed with bids placed and quickly rejected for Jordan Jones of Kilmarnock and Hamilton’s Greg Docherty.

Leaking details of the offer to favoured media sources is followed by a low-ball bid with the wanted player left high and dry.

Boyd highlighted that pattern, which was also used to unsettle Scott Allan and Jamie Walker with Murty answering back at today’s media conference.

Kris is entitled to his own opinion but as far as I am concerned we have handled it in an above board manner,” the Ibrox boss told The Scotsman.

We have gone to the club, we’ve made an offer and they are perfectly within their rights to say no. That’s fine, we move forward.

Either we negotiate or we walk away. That’s our prerogative. It’s also the player’s club’s prerogative to say no. “As far as I’m concerned everything we have done has been above board and proper.”

Hamilton and Kilmarnock have rejected bids in the region of £300,000 for players that they value at closer to £1m.

Jones and Docherty are both under contract with Premiership survival or finishing in the top six both worth more than £300,000 to their clubs.

By 3pm tomorrow the transfer strategy will be even clearer with both players likely to be cup-tied if as expected they play for their current club.

So far Sevco haven’t paid a penny in transfer fees with four players coming in on loan.

Carlos Pena has been sent on loan to Mexico while kid goals Ryan Hardie has gone on loan to Livingston with his contract expiring in the summer.
