Graeme Murty has said that it will take ‘a big barrowload of cash’ to shift Alfredo Morelos out of Ibrox.

That barrowload could arrive next week.

Morelos admitted to a Columbian TV station that he is hoping to be playing in the EPL next season with the troubled Ibrox club doing everything to accommodate that wish.

Selling Morelos for £2m with Jason Cummings in on loan would be a rare piece of business sense by Sevco.

Despite posting losses of £7m for last season, a summer spending spree and sacking their management team in November Sevco haven’t raised a penny in transfer deals this month.

James Tavernier and Josh Windass could be sold next week but the departure of Morelos would make a significant contribution towards seeing the season out.

“Unless someone walks in with a barrowload of cash – and a big barrowload – he will be a Rangers player,” Murty told the Daily Record about about the likely departure of the Columbian.

“I want players who have aspirations to be in a better place. Hopefully we can get better at Rangers but the big prize is to play in the Premier League. You can safeguard your family’s future with one move. If we have someone good enough to go there, it’s fantastic for us.”

A move to the English Championship is far more likely with Sevco believed to be targeting second tier clubs for the sale of Morelos.
