Image for Rodgers finally gives up reasoning with critics

After 18 months of partaking in the media game it seems that Brendan Rodgers has had enough of sweet talking his critics.

Since becoming Celtic manager the Irishman has delivered non-stop success despite the much hyped revolutions across the city delivered by Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha.

Graeme Murty is the latest media genius after delivering two friendly wins in a Florida kick-about and a job lot of loanees while his club is unable to muster a single transfer fee.

Former Celt Kris Commons has been lured into the murky business speculating about how the Celtic defence will cope with a match that is a month away.

There are certainly grounds to question how Celtic are performing but it’s clear that the rose tinted adulation of events across the city is getting under the skin of the hoops boss.

Being asked to respond to second hand criticism is a pet hate of managers with Rodgers in no mood to indulge the broadcasting studio views of Commons.

Asked if he was under scrutiny to strengthen his defence Rodgers told the Daily Record: “No there’s not. By who? Scrutiny by who?”

Asked about Commons he added: “Right, Kris Commons … I’m about deeds, not words.

I’ve heard some s*** since I’ve been up here. I’m worried about deeds. That’s the part of your industry that I don’t like.

I don’t want to stand here and waste my time. I have a mountain of things to do rather than talk about speculation or what Kris Commons or other guys think.

Everyone has an opinion but the opinions are not always the reality.”
