Brendan Rodgers has admitted that Celtic are short on creativity.

Jo Venglos brought in Lubo Moravcik with the Slovakian midfielder setting a high benchmark with his range of skills and two footedness.

Almost a decade later Shunsuke Nakamura provided a fresh dynamic playing his part in a side that twice reached the last 16 of the Champions League.

Neil Lennon and Ronny Deila went without a ‘Number 10’ as Celtic started on their run of six consecutive titles with Rodgers admitting that he’d like to bring in someone with that special ability to turn a match in one movement.

We’ve been unfortunate really with injuries that we’ve had this year and it’s taken a little bit of the creativity away from our squad with the unavailability of players for a period of time,” STV reported the Celtic manager saying. “So that’s something that we’ve obviously looked at.

“We’re calm. The recruitment department behind the scenes have been working very hard in terms of identifying the right types of players that can make a difference for us, not just for now but going forward.”

Tom Rogic is the closest player that Celtic have to the fabled number 10 but has been troubled by injuries this season.

The Australian has scored some of the most memorable goals in Rodgers’ time as Celtic boss including the winner in last season’s Scottish Cup Final win over Aberdeen.
