The shambolic running of Sevco has been put in the spotlight by Jamie Murphy’s no-show on today’s flight to Orlando for a winter training camp and two matches in the Florida Cup.
On Thursday the Brighton forward was met by a media circus at Glasgow Airport with the assumption that only a medical was required to complete the ‘dream deal to his boyhood heroes’.
As Friday dragged on with no announcement Chris Hughton stated that the former Motherwell man was in Glasgow for talks rather than a medical.
Rumours of a problem were rife on Friday night with Murphy absent as the squad flew out from Edinburgh Airport this morning.
Rather than draw comparisons with the failed attempt to appoint Derek McInnes as manager fingers are being pointed towards Brighton as the cause of the ‘breakdown’.
Now there is talk of a loan deal until the end of the season being discussed although the real focus should be on the grim finances at Ibrox with claims today that they will have to pay half of Carlos Pena’s wages to get the Mexican out on loan.
With the embarrassment of the Murphy deal falling through Sevco can virtually forget about signing anyone from the English Premier League.
