Lewis Morgan wants to make up for lost time at Murray Park by becoming a Celtic hero.

The winger was delighted to sign a four and a half year contract for the hoops after being told that he wouldn’t make the grade at Ibrox.

Star maker Jimmy Sinclair made that judgement with Saint Mirren enjoying the benefit of a £300,000 transfer fee and over 100 top team appearances.

The fabled conveyor belt of talent from Murray Park has ran aground in recent seasons with Barrie McKay and Lewis MacLeod bringing in less than £1m and leaving Ibrox without a winners medal to their name.

As Morgan developed at St Mirren Sevco fans took comfort in the winger returning ‘home’ but as he signed for Celtic he contrasted the way that the Glasgow clubs operate.

Rangers wanted the biggest boys in the country at my age,” he told The Sun. “It didn’t really work out for them.

I’ve always used it to push me to prove people wrong. It’s got me to here so I’m delighted.

I probably lost a couple of years at that club so I can’t wait to get started at this one — the biggest club.”

Morgan has returned to Saint Mirren on loan until the end of the season and will kick off his Celtic career with pre-season training in June.
