Michael O’Neill has rejected the offer to manage Scotland.

Over 100 days after binning Gordon Strachan Stewart Regan has been left red faced by O’Neill’s decision to reject Scotland and stay with Northern Ireland.

Regan met with the former Brechin boss to discuss the Scotland job but like most things during his reign Regan failed to complete the deal.

Strachan’s contract wasn’t renewed after Scotland failed to make the World Cup play-off’s with the decision communicated by a phone call.

Malky Mackay was brought in as caretaker manager for the friendly against Holland in November but on the day of that match Regan announced to TalkSPORT that the former Cardiff boss wasn’t being considered for the Scotland job.

Since Strachan was effectively sacked Davie Moyes and Paul Lambert have taken up jobs in the EPL although Alex McLeish is still looking for a job.

Yesterday the SFA announced mid summer friendlies away to Peru on May 29 and Mexico on June 2.
