Celtic fans were disgusted by the display of John Beaton today as the hoops drew 0-0 with St Johnstone.
The draw puts Celtic nine points ahead of Aberdeen and Sevco at the top of the Premiership with the hoops facing a tough trip to Pittodrie next Sunday after their Europa League visit to Russia.
Brendan Rodgers made seven changes to the side that beat Zenit St Petersburg on Thursday night but few of the replacements did their case many favours.
Throughout the match the hoops were hampered by some incredible decisions by Beaton who seemed determined to even up the difference in quality between the sides by allowing the Saints players to do as they please.
Brother Beaton at it again , 23 fouls given about 15 not, shows no 2nd card, allows the StJ to be subbed, denied a handball in the box. Celtic players kicked up and down the park body checks pull backs -supposed be auto yellow not here, Brother Beaton refuses to issue 2nd yellow.

Would love to know who assesses the performances of the refs at the @ScottishFA. John Beaton is an absolute disgrace.

Our abysmal performance was matched by Beaton. Can’t remember how many blatant fouls waved away.
crushing any concept of a sporting spectacle. Weak and amateurish attempt at neutrality. And we wonder about all our injuries…

Uninspiring “after the Lord Mayor’s Show” display from a much-changed #Celtic side.Too many changes in my opinion, but fluency & momentum not helped by another awful refereeing display from Beaton.Once again Celtic looked leaderless without Brown. But I’m happy with a 9-point lead

Really poor. With so many injuries I don’t think we are good enough to rest fit first picks.
John Beaton with his usual joke performance.— Paul Larkin* (@paullarkin74) February 18, 2018
Celtic enduring a hell of a Beaton

John Beaton doing the @ScottishFA proud today. An absolutely ridiculous performance so far.

Time and again the visitors were able to arrive late in challenges, put the boot in and body check knowing there was virtually no chance of being punished.
Dick Foster was booked just before half-time then feigned an injury on the hour mark to avoid further punishment for dragging Charly Musonda to the deck.
Murray Davidson and Chris Millar were the chief sinners in the middle of the park with Davidson finally booked in the 75th minute for dragging Musonda to the ground.
David Wotherspoon and Blair Alston were booked in stoppage time to make it a respectable tally of four yellow cards but after waiting until the 75th minute to issue his second card Beaton had already put down a marker on the game.
