The great climb-down from the Alfredo Morelos transfer is underway with The Express reporting that Beijing Rehne have cooled their interest in the striker.

Since the interest was stony cold to begin with the Columbian striker can forget about a February switch to China with Sevco losing out on a life-saving £8m windfall.

With Rehne recently signing Augusto Fernández from Atletico Madrid they have their full quota of foreign players which is one way of cooling interest.

As an added complication to the unlikeliest of transfer stories the Chinese government imposed a 100% tax on transfer fees over $7m which would turn the rumoured £8m bid for Morelos into a Scottish record fee.

Last week Murty admitted that Morelos was confused by the speculation with the £8m man left on the bench for last night’s win over Partick Thistle at Firhill.

The Chinese transfer window remains open until the end of February.
