Joey Barton denied watching Celtic’s 3-2 win at Ibrox.

The gobby TalkSPORT presenter spent last week talking up the revival of Graeme Murty’s side as they cut Celtic’s lead at the top of the table down to just three points.

Barton arrived at Ibrox in the summer of 2016 promising to sort out Scott Brown and slaughtering the ability and appearance of Brendan Rodgers.

This morning on Alan Brazil’s Breakfast Show the former Burnley ace was strangely sheepish.

It was almost an hour into the show before the match at Ibrox was mentioned.

Defensively Barton said: “Why would I watch that Al,who watches Scottish football? There were big Premier League matches on, Arsenal and Watford was on. I didn’t even know that there was a game on.”

As the Celtic boss recently remarked ‘be careful what you wish for’ with Barton’s final appearance in a blue jersey coming in a 5-1 defeat at Celtic Park.

The post match inquest at Murray Park turned out to be Barton’s last involvement as a Sevco player.

Harsh words were exchanged, the former Strangeways convict was suspended and fined, returning to Murray Park to collect a coffee machine before negotiating the majority of his salary in return for his silence on his exit.
