Celtic won’t be signing Vujadin Savic in the summer from Red Star Belgrade.
This morning the Daily Record and The Sun carried reports from Serbia that the 27-year-old defender was a summer transfer target for Brendan Rodgers.
Later on The Sun claimed that the hoops wouldn’t be following up on the reported interest.
The transfer market in the former Yugoslavia provides strong value for money with Celtic signing Jozo Simunovic in 2015 from Dinamo Zagreb.
During the January transfer window Brendan Rodgers signed Marvin Compper and Jack Hendry but is likely to strengthen his central defence again in the summer.
Erik Sviatchenko is currently out on loan at Midtjylland while Dedryck Boyata is out of contract in June 2019.
Savic is also under contract until June 2019 with Red Star prepared to sell this summer for £1.5m.
The 27-year-old has previously been with Bordeaux and is believed to be interesting Italian side Sassuolo.
