Celtic’s official twitter account has set the record straight with Real Zaragoza.
The Spanish side claimed that 51 years ago today they lost out to the hoops in a Cup Winners Cup tie.
Anyone with a passing knowledge of the beautiful game would realise that in season 66/67 Celtic were involved in the European Cup, winning it at the first time of asking with a team drawn from within 30 miles of Celtic Park.

Foreign publications can often fall for using the phrase Glasgow since it is almost seven years since any club from the city other than Celtic played in a European competition.
Fifty one years ago Zaragoza did play a club from Glasgow, losing out to the recently departed Rangers club in the Cup Winners Cup.
That club, who played their home matches in the Ibrox area went on to reach the final of the Cup Winners Cup but sadly lost out to Bayern Munich denying Glasgow the opportunity to host both of the major trophies in the one city at the same time.
