The Daily Record has backed down from some online trolling between two of their football reporters.

On Sunday morning Record readers were told by former Dundee United starlet Gordon Park how Greg Docherty was about to expose the limitations of the poster boy of mediocrity Scott Brown!

To say that Brown handed out another Ibrox master-class would be an understatement.

Two months into his Ibrox career Docherty was handed a priceless lesson in midfield play, leadership and how to be a winner. A lesson none of his team-mates can pass on.

Reflecting on his colleagues opinion Jackson wrote: “A poster boy for Scottish football’s mediocrity? That’s how he was described yesterday in print by someone who knows a thing or two about being mediocre but not very much about what it takes to win football matches.

That section was withdrawn from the digital edition.

Elaborating on the point Jackson added: “Graeme Murty and his players will have plenty of time now to reflect on that and to ask themselves why they were unable to take advantage of a situation which was presented to them on a plate. But they need only look to the standard of Brown’s performance to find the answers.

The truth is Celtic’s captain wanted this win more than any of them and was simply not prepared to accept anything less.

Murty will have to challenge these players now and demand more from each of them when they face Celtic again in a Scottish Cup semi-final which, now his hopes of achieving something miraculous in the league is gone, will most probably determine his own future in the Rangers hot-seat.”

Murts and the Doc have got a month to learn lessons, on April 15 they will again be confronted by the poster boy of Scottish football mediocrity.
