James Forrest won’t be sitting back despite having his best ever season in front of goal.

The winger has found the net 16 times so far and is well on course to go through the 20 mark.

Back in August he scored the priceless goal away to Rosenborg that took Celtic into the Champions League play-off round and has barely dipped in form since.

At home to Bayern Munich he had the game of his life while in the Scottish Cup he grabbed a hat-trick against Partick Thistle to take Celtic into the last eight.

Last week he put in the telling cross for Moussa Dembele to open the scoring at Aberdeen with the next month giving Celtic the opportunity to get closer to more prizes.

Speaking to the Daily Record he said: “Has it been my best season? Definitely. It’s been really enjoyable, playing in Europe in the Champions League, winning the cup final and scoring goals as well as playing in internationals.

That’s what you want to do and it’s been great so far. We’ve got 10 league games, a few internationals and a few cup games left as well, so hopefully I can keep going and keep doing what I’m doing.

This is the first year I have ever hit double figures. There are a few more games to go and I just want to play as many as I can and score a few more – I would be happy with that.”

Last season Forrest scored eight times in Celtic’s treble success with his hat-trick against Thistle taking his total for this season to 16.
