Jamie Murphy claims that he can handle the fame and adulation that comes with playing for Sevco.

The January loan signing from Brighton has made 10 appearances since switching to Ibrox including home defeats from Celtic and Kilmarnock.

Those results brought some reality back to Sevco after the dressing room celebrations that greeted the Scottish Cup semi-draw pairing them with Celtic.

Murphy couldn’t get near a place in the Brighton side this season and is delighted to finally find minor celebrity status.

To be honest, down south sometimes you can walk down the middle of the street and it’s fine,” he explained to The Sun. “Nobody really cares. Nobody knows who you are.

It’s certainly not the case up here. There is much more passion about football and that’s the way I grew up. That’s the way it should be.

I didn’t find it hard to adjust. When you play for Rangers, you know what comes with it. I was a fan for long enough.

It used to be me looking at players that were walking down the street. I’m just delighted to be back up here and playing football.

I don’t mind the selfies. As long as they are nice about it, it’s not a problem.”

After being totally ignored for Scotland honours while starring for Sheffield United and Brighton Murphy got an immediate call up as soon as he moved to Ibrox.

For reasons best known to Alex McLeish, who collected £1.7m in EBT payments while in charge of Rangers (IL), Murphy appeared as an 87th minute substitute against Costa Rica on Friday night to pick up his first full international cap.
