Sound of silence over Ibrox

The sound of silence is blanketed over Ibrox this morning.

In a pivotal week for week for the tribute act there isn’t a single upbeat message coming out of the blue room of unsurpassed dignity.

With a crowd reported at 15,000 for a legends charity match it seems that six years of turmoil matched with a fourth successive Ibrox defeat from Celtic has drained the hope from the deluded, gullible and easily led.

By the close of play this week we’ll discover if there is a spare £11m in Dave King’s bank book and whether an accountant can be found to publish interim accounts for next season’s UEFA campaign.

Since his Court of Session appeal was dismissed two hours into a two day hearing the man described as a glib and shameless liar by a South African judge hasn’t said a word. Dave King’s fellow directors at Ibrox do have an email promising that he would comply with a negative ruling.

On the accounts front there may be concerns that the SFA can no longer apply the same discretion as they did in the good old days, accountancy gymnastics may be a thing of the past.

After Craig Whyte’s trial last summer Stewart Regan was reluctantly forced to look against at the 2011 UEFA licence.

Regan and some of his fellow travellers have left the scene but the pesky internet bampots remain. Ian Maxwell, or whoever takes over from Regan, know that their credibility and career will be defined by how they deal with the financial carnage at Ibrox, currently and historically.

With that in mind Kevin Thomson talking up Greg Docherty isn’t much of a deflection tactic as the clock ticks down to the end of King’s chaotic reign.
