Deluded Mark Warburton believes that Celtic are on the slide.

As well as having the fairly unique record of being sacked twice in a calendar year the former city trader believes that a club can survive liquidation!

After spending more than a decade playing computer games during his lunch break in the City of London Warbo took charge of Brentford but quickly fell out with the club owners over his vision for the game.

At Sevco he lasted less than a season in the top flight before being exposed as a one trick pony.

As he preached his soccer master-plan around Joey Garner, Nico Kranjcar and Martyn Waghorn, Sevco found themselves 27 points behind Celtic when Warbo was emailed that he had resigned.

Giving his verdict as Celtic zoom in on a second successive treble Warbo told The Sun: “Celtic had a record year in so many respects and the gap was too much to stomach for many people. It was a very painful time for all Rangers fans.

I was mocked by a few pundits after I said clubs regress to the mean.

Celtic had an outstanding season last year, but this season they have dropped many more points. They’ve gone back to having an average season.

Clubs and individuals have these outstanding seasons and it is how they maintain those standards.

All Celtic have done is regress to the mean and the gap to Rangers is tighter now.”

The gap to Aberdeen and Hibs is also tighter but no one at those two clubs are as arrogant and deluded as Warbo.

Highlighting his failings as a city trader and former football manager he added: “Rangers with their history and tradition, and being the most successful club in the world with 54 league titles, the fans are desperate for success.

You have to recognise that Celtic have been in the Champions League for the last few years. They have done well to make it into the group stages.

With that comes the financial rewards and all that does is increase the gap between Celtic and Rangers.

Every year you are fighting to close that financial gap. Rangers need investment and to dampen some expectations and recognise they need to build the club up again.”

Real Madrid have only been champions of Europe 12 times but have never had to build the club up.

As a manager Warbo’s only trophy success was in the 2016 Petrofac Cup when Sevco beat the fishermen, taxi drivers and bin men of Peterhead. A few weeks later he became the first manager in more than a century to lose a Scottish Cup Final to Hibs.
