Hope gives way to despair at Ibrox

Sunday was bad for Sevco fans, in the days since getting hammered by Celtic things have only got worse.

When Celtic won 3-0 in May 2012 against Rangers (IL) one banner tellingly warned that ‘Your grand children will be Celtic fans’.

That claim now looks over cautious, kids of today follow success that is why there are so many Real Madrid and Barcelona shirts seen across Scotland.

Primary school pupils can’t recall a win over Celtic for a club from Ibrox with the loyalty of their parents and grand-parents now at breaking point.

For six years they have played the ‘staunch and defiant card’. They rallied behind Ally McCoist and ‘We Don’t Do Walking Away’ only to discover that the gardener had just doubled his wages and was hanging on to his penny shares.

Two batches of season tickets have been sold on the promise of the farcical #goingfor55 campaign.

As the thirty and forty something’s switch to golf and bowls on Saturday’s the battle is almost lost.

Almost certainly there will always be some sort of tribute act kicking around in Scottish football but the scary thought for the people is that this season may be as good as it ever gets as they count down to the nightmare of 10-in-a-row parties that their children may be celebrating.
