Ferguson feels the pain

Six weeks after asking how many Celtic players would get into the Sevco side Barry Ferguson has admitted that the Glasgow derby has become men against boys, without an h.

Yesterday’s 5-0 title clincher comes on the back of a 4-0 win in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup with both scorelines generous to the tribute act.

With a squad full of players lured to the club on EBT payments Ferguson never suffered back to back results like that in his playing days.

Six years into the journey the pain continues for Real Rangers Men with the former Ibrox skipper scathing about every aspect of the latest derby demolition.

Sharing his pain with the Daily Record Ferguson admitted: “Another Old Firm horror show. It’s a struggle to find the words to describe it.

Dumbstruck after sitting through a game which clarified just how big the gap is between Celtic and Rangers.

After the last humiliation in the Scottish Cup semi-final I said it had been a sad watch and a hard watch but if anything this was even worse.”

He added: “Watching Celtic players pointing over at the Rangers end when there’s nobody there and laughing, it hurts. I am speaking from the heart, it’s the most difficult thing to assess what happened so soon after having to sit through it.

As a Rangers fan it’s difficult to watch Mikael Lustig putting on a policeman’s hat to celebrate a goal.

I hope it’s hurting those guys in the dressing room but that’s the worrying thing, I don’t think it really hurts them.”

After Celtic’s 3-2 win over Sevco at Ibrox in March Ferguson claimed that Brendan Rodgers got lucky with the red card issued to Jozo Simunovic

Two further defeats seem to have changed his mind as the gulf between the two clubs grows larger with each passing game.

In the 3-2 loss at Ibrox, I felt Rangers were the better team and there was some progression,” Ferguson admitted. “That has proven to be a false dawn. Celtic are the better team by a country mile.

Hibs pressed them last week, they showed courage and intensity to beat Celtic. But Rangers couldn’t get close. The league table doesn’t lie, Celtic have been far and away the best side and congratulations to them for that.”
