Andy Halliday believes that Sevco owe their fans a win over Celtic.
The two clubs meet for the fourth time this season at Hampden on Sunday with a place in the Scottish Cup Final waiting for the victors.
Halliday made a rare appearance against Dundee on Saturday, replacing Greg Docherty on the hour mark and apparently having an important influence on the match.
It remains to be seen whether the former Bradford City ace will play against Scott Brown on Sunday but if selected Halliday knows what is on the line.
“If I am called upon, I’ll be delighted to play,” he told the Evening Times. “If not, I’ll support the boys all the way.
“We certainly owe the supporters it. We’ve had a lot of disappointing memories in the Old Firm over the past couple of years.
“We’re confident that, if we play to the highest of our ability, we can get a result. However, Celtic certainly go into the game as favourites.
“The last game was just typical Old Firm. The results of these games are detailed on fine margins and there were quite a few margins in that game.
“It was a game we certainly felt we could have come away with a win, but, unfortunately, we didn’t get it.
“The most important thing for us is that we have to play well on the day.
“Be at a high standard for 90 minutes and not just in spells as we did against Dundee again. We need to be at it from the first whistle until the end.”
Since Brendan Rodgers took charge of Celtic in the summer of 2016 the hoops have been unbeaten against Sevco in nine matches.
Included in that run are two Hampden semi-finals from last season with the hoops defence barely tested on either occasion.
At Ibrox last month confidence had never been higher going into a derby match but the final whistle in that 3-2 defeat delivered some brutal reality.
That remained in place until Saturday but after beating Dundee 4-0 some familiar noises are coming out from Ibrox, from the dressing room and elsewhere.
