Derek McInnes has warned Sevco that Aberdeen aren’t in the mood to give up on second place in the Premiership.

Graeme Murty has been going on about making progress and narrowing the gap but the league table this morning won’t make for pleasant viewing at Murray Park this morning.

With Aberdeen three points ahead and one behind it is definitely squeaky bum time with the two east coast clubs bang in form as Sevco toil for their first win in four matches ahead of Dundee’s visit to Ibrox.

Murty has already lost twice to Dundee in his managerial journey.

After drawing with Celtic and Sevco in their last two outings Motherwell faced the Dons with confidence but just past the hour mark the visitors struck twice to move into a position that they are accustomed to- second.

We are confident in ourselves, regardless of what has happened, people remember how you finish a season,” McInnes told The Sun.

In the past we have normally secured second place by now but everyone can see it’s going to be a challenge.

Rangers have some very good players and Hibs have been tremendous under Neil.

Everyone says finishing second is easy but if that’s the case why has no one else done it? We will be doing everything we can, fighting tooth and nail, to finish second.”

On Saturday Aberdeen travel to face Hearts with Hibs away to Ross County in the final round of pre-split fixtures.
