No laughs for Cummings

Since taking his cheeky chappie routine to Sevco in January Jason Cummings hasn’t had much to laugh about.

On Saturday things got worse for the on-loan Nottingham Forest striker. Much, much worse.

At the City Ground the form and goals of Daryl Murphy left Cummings on the sidelines, at Ibrox it is Kenny Miller.

Cummings somehow picked up his second Scotland cap with a two minute appearance in the win over Hungry but meaningful action at club level is proving much more elusive.

An injury to Josh Windass looked like providing Cummings with a starting place against Dundee but instead Graeme Murty turned to a 38-year-old who’ll be out of contract in two months time.

Cummings made his name scoring goals for Hibs in the Championship but outwith that comfort zone the striker has been found wanting.

The 22-year-old has only started two Premiership fixtures and came off the bench eight times. With an assist off Harry Souter his only scoring contribution in the title race Cummings will return to Forest in the summer with his career in a worse place than it was when he decided to head north and ‘score goals for fun’.
