Sevco’s miserable season looks set to plunge new depths with Carlos Pena expected to have his loan spell with Cruz Azul cut short.

The midfielder was pictured buying beer straight after training in his Cruz Azul kit which could give the Mexican side the perfect opportunity to ditch the highly paid flop.

Pena joined Sevco last summer being hailed as the Mexican Ruud Gullit but tales of his in-discipline off the park quickly surfaced.

Pedro Caixinha was reluctant to introduce Pena to his side with the 28-year-old barely capable of lasting 90 minutes.

After the Portuguese bull-fighter was sacked he took Pena on a season long loan to his new club but after some disastrous performances Cruz fans are demanding that he is returned to Ibrox.

The Daily Record reports Cruz Azul president, Guillermo Alvarez saying: “Carlos Pena’s future at this club will be decided in the coming days.

“We will look at all options concerning the player, including his contract situation.”

Like his compatriot Eduardo Herrera, Pena is under contract until June 2020 and is believed to be on a weekly salary north of £20,000/week.
