Brendan Rodgers joined hundreds of Celtic fans and many former players at Linn Cemetery today to commemorate Tommy Burns.

The current Celtic boss started his coaching career with Burns at Reading in the late nineties.

Ten years ago Burns lost his battle with cancer but his memory lives on strongly in the thoughts of Celtic supporters with Packie Bonner, Danny McGrain, Billy Stark, Mick Conroy and Gordon Strachan among those paying their respects today.

The Celtic Graves Society has done incredible work over the last ten years, identifying the resting place of various former players and officials and ensuring that their contribution to the club is properly recognised.

Burns signed for Celtic and made his debut under Jock Stein, serving Celtic for 14 years as a player before moving on to Kilmarnock.

After a spell in management at Rugby Park he returned to Celtic in 1994 where he had three years in charge under Fergus McCann.

Although that stint only brought one trophy, the 1995 Scottish Cup, Burns galvanised the Celtic support with supporters flocking to the new look Celtic Park to watch an exciting side that included talents such as Paul McStay, Jorge Cadete, Pierre van Hooijdonk and Paolo di Canio.

Kenny Dalglish brought Burns back to Celtic in 2000 following the sacking of John Barnes with both Martin O’Neill and Gordon Strachan using him as part of their backroom teams.
