Billy Gilmour has revealed that fear of Scott Brown forced him to move to Chelsea!

A year ago the Ayrshire kid was the shining star on the Murray Park Conveyor Belt with his every training session recorded and reported in great detail. Shortly after 13-year-old Karamoko Dembele played for Celtic in the Development League.

Sevco were keen to get Gilmour into their first team to increase the size of his Development fee but at the age of 15 he was too young to play in proper football.

Gilmour was training regularly with stars such as Kenny Miller and Andy Halliday but there was one great fear holding him back from wanting a taste of first team action.

My friend Harry Cochrane is in Hearts’ first team now and doing really well,” the Chelsea starlet explained to The Sun.

If it was later maybe it would have been a good decision to stay at Rangers because I’d have been bigger, more developed but I’m not fully developed.

If I’d matched myself up against Scott Brown, for instance, he’d bully me for a full game.

He’s the best midfielder in Scotland by far. Maybe technically, I’d be ok. But in terms of running about and pushing him off the ball, I’d have no chance.

That’s the way I looked at it. Would I have been ready? The answer would have been: ‘No’.

Andy Halliday is 26, Graham Dorrans 31 and Greg Docherty 21.
