Celtic have been linked with a move for Jordan Ayew because they speak English in Glasgow.

The striker is likely to leave Swansea following relegation with a friend deciding to throw Celtic into speculation over his next move.

Ayew joined Swansea in January 2017 in a £5m deal from Aston Villa and scored seven goals last season as the Welsh side were relegated from the EPL.

That sort of form is unlikely to dislodge Moussa Dembele or Leigh Griffiths with signing up Odsonne Edouard the striking priority for Brendan Rodgers.

Ghanaweb reports Ayew’s friend Nana Oduro Sarfo saying: “Jordan has had offers from several clubs after Swansea City’s relegation last season. He will surely not play in the Championship with them.

“Liverpool have shown interest in him but Scottish side Celtic and their coach seem to be serious with their interest. I believe he may go to Scotland looking at how events are unfolding since they want to meet every demand.

“They speak English just like in England so he can express himself well in there and meet the expectations in the league.”

Rodgers has signed Olivier Ntcham and Scott Sinclair from the EPL but with wage inflation going through the roof that source of signings is likely to become less significant.

The French market seems to offer better value with Celtic able to highlight how Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama and others have used the hoops as a stepping stone to England.
