John Hartson has laughed off speculation that Kieran Tierney is a £20m target for Bournemouth.

For those Premier-centric types that can’t see past the glamour of Burnley, Swansea, Brighton and Crystal Palace the ‘deal’ makes perfect sense.

Switching from a football backwater to the glamour of the EPL and trebling his wages might appeal to some but not the bhoy from Wishaw.

Tierney played a lead role on and off the park in Celtic’s title clincher against Sevco and is now lapping up the sunshine in Tenerife preparing for the Scottish Cup Final.

Hartson has experienced his football on both sides of the border and isn’t holding his breathe on KT running out at Dean Court in front of 12,000 adoring fans.

Writing in the Evening Times the Welshman explained: “I know how happy and how settled he is at Celtic. Who is to say that he doesn’t buck the trend and decide to be a one-man club? It’s no-one else’s decision to make other than his.

There will always be offers on the table if you are playing as well as he is. That’s good for him, it shows just how much he is progressing and the fact that so many clubs are continually keeping tabs on him will tell you the esteem with which he is held.

He reminds me very much of a young Stewart Pearce. He has everything; pace, athleticism, strength, he can cross, he can score, he can defend. Physically he has really worked since he first broke into the Celtic team to work on his stamina and on his strength and he has got the rewards for that.

I was at the PFA dinner on Sunday evening and was asked to collect Kieran Tierney’s Young Player of the year award on his behalf and I have to say that it is a staggering feat to have won that on three successive seasons.”

In October Tierney signed a new six year Celtic deal keeping him at the club until 2023.
