The fall out from Rangers going into administration and liquidation is continuing this week with Dave Whitehouse from Duff and Phelps making a claim for £9m against the Lord Advocate for wrongful prosecution.

Whitehouse and his Duff and Phelps colleague Paul Clark were drafted in by Craig Whyte in 2012 to handle the administration of the club which resulted in liquidation and the transfer of £100m of assets to Charles Green for £6.5m.

In September 2015 Whitehouse and Clark were arrested and questioned and although no charges were made they claim that damage was done to their reputations.

Charges against a number of men were dropped before Whyte stood trial in June 2017 where he was found not guilty of using fraud to obtain Rangers for £1 in May 2011.

Dave Murray was called to the witness box at that trial where he revealed that the club’s disguised remuneration scam, described as EBT payments, was used to attract players that the club wouldn’t normally be able to afford.

The disgraced businessman also confirmed that the wee tax case which he attempted to pass on to Whyte had been overdue since November 2010, five months before the club applied for a UEFA licence to the SFA.
