Lee McCulloch is tipping Sevco to have a 100% home record before Celtic visit Ibrox in December.

In the season just finished the tribute act watched Hibs twice, Kilmarnock, St Johnstone and Hamilton win at Ibrox as well as twice hosting 7,000 partying Celtic fans.

That sight proved too much for Dave King whose status was elevated even further when he decided to sell full season tickets for the Broomloan Road stand leaving Celtic with an allocation of less than 1,000 tickets.

Celtic will host Sevco in the first derby of the season with McCulloch expecting a rampant home side by the time the hoops head to Ibrox looking for their fifth successive win on that ground.

Explaining the ticket cut in the Evening Times the former Kilmarnock boss said: “Too many teams have taken points at Ibrox over the last couple of seasons and that has to change next term. So Rangers need their fans on side from the off.

If we are going to be serious about challenging for the title, there can be no dropped points going into the first game against Celtic.

Rangers need to go into that fixture ready to take them on and if Ibrox is bouncing with our own supporters then that gives the team a better chance of winning matches at home. That has to be a benefit.

From a players’ perspective, I don’t think the Old Firm game itself will change that much. It shouldn’t do anyway.

Whether there is one fan there or 50,000 there, it shouldn’t matter.

After Sevco’s statement about the cut in ticket Celtic made a statement that they would take reciprocal action.

The move from Ibrox is mainly viewed as a short term attempt to bring in some early cash with no sign yet of Dave King’s £6m June share issue.
