John McGinn has spoken out about the transfer speculation linking him with a move to Glasgow.

The Hibs midfielder has a year left on his current deal but isn’t expected to start next season at Easter Road.

Brendan Rodgers complimented McGinn after watching Celtic last season while Sevco were linked with another highly unlikely transfer deal on Friday- two days before playing against Hibs.

Despite his obvious ability a move to Glasgow seems unlikely on a number of grounds.

Celtic are very well served for central midfielders while Sevco wouldn’t be able to get close to matching the personal terms and transfer fee that English clubs could offer the former St Mirren man.

Discussing his future with BT Sport McGinn said: “The Celtic one’s always been something I’ve been linked with because of the relations I have – my granddad was the chairman there.

They’re both (bringing Sevco into the debate) massive clubs but at the same time, it’s not for me to comment on. I’ve got another year here.

I’m sure the media will have their ideas where they want me to go – I just want to go where I’ll improve.

If that’s this year or next year then who knows?”

West Ham and Nottingham Forest have been linked with McGinn in the past with Hibs basically forced to sell the midfielder this summer.

Dylan McGeouch will quit for Blackburn Rovers at the end of his contract with a repeat of that scenario involving McGinn in 12 months one that the Edinburgh club can’t contemplate.
