Patrick Roberts doesn’t believe that his Celtic days are over.

The winger is expected to bid farewell to the club tomorrow after Scott Brown’s testimonial match and is hoping to be involved at some stage in the Scottish Cup Final against Motherwell.

Roberts has been a Celtic player longer than Victor Wanyama and Virgil van Dijk with a lot of changes during his two and a half year stay in Glasgow.

From his first appearances when he thrilled supporters with his skill and pace he has made a big impact with the club making just as big an impact on the Manchester City kid.

Looking forward he told the Daily Record: “I’ve always said you never know what might happen in football. It’s never goodbye, but I’ll always be a fan and will always come to games, even if I’m not here playing.

The win is the most important thing. To get on the pitch, finish on a high and say goodbye to them would be special but the win is most important and all the boys will be up for it.

If we do it it’ll probably be one of the most important aspects of my career. I’ve hopefully got a long way ahead of me.

“Just being here will be one of the highlights and I’m just glad to be here and and play with a bunch of lads who’ve won as much as we have. It’s been a huge honour and I’ve been proud to play here.

I could end up back here in a few years and if so then great but you’ve got to live for the moment and carry on life as it is.”

Roberts joined Manchester City from Fulham in July 2015 for a fee that ranges from £6-10m.

Six months later he joined Celtic under Ronny Deila on an 18 month loan with a further year long loan agreed last summer.

There seems little prospect of Roberts working his way into the City side with a season long loan to an English Premier League side the most likely option.
