Sevco have had a second bid for Connor Goldson rejected by Brighton.

According to a report in the Brighton based Argus an offer of £1.5m for the defender has been turned down as Steven Gerrard seeks to sort out the worst defence in the top six.

The Argus reported:

The Scottish giants had an opening offer of around £1.5 million turned down last week as new boss Steven Gerrard tries to build a squad to close the gap on big rivals Celtic.

Rangers have returned with another bid which The Argus understands is still well short of the Seagulls’ valuation of Goldson.

Goldson was involved in three EPL matches for Brighton last season with the south coast club well aware of the dire state of finances at Ibrox.

In January Sevco tried to sign Jamie Murphy with no down payment but had that idea kicked into touch with a loan move agreed.

Since then Dave King’s company were forced to turn to Close Brothers to keep the lights on for this season.

So far despite the hype surrounding the Gerrard Revolution Sevco have still to spend a penny on transfer fees.

Mark Allen has brought in Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor on free transfers with out of contract Kenny Miller the only departure.
