Sevco are lining up a sensational summer swoop for James Collins.

With none of his former England or Liverpool team-mates interested in playing alongside Andy Halliday and Josh Windass Steven Gerrard has been forced to borrow Mark Allen’s contact book.

After making just 12 Premier League appearances for West Ham Collins is available as a free agent which obviously appeals to the Ibrox Director of Football.

Both the Daily Record and The Sun carry the speculation about Collins which helps bury the reality of the botched bid for Martin Skrtel.

Collins will be 35 in August but is highly unlikely to up sticks and head to Govan after more than a decade at West Ham.

A number of English Championship sides will be able to offer the Welsh international superior wages without him having to move home.

Since the Gerrard revolution was launched only Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor have been added to last season’s squad of failures.

Wayne Rooney, Fernando Torres and Jermaine Defoe have blocked Gerrard from their mobile phones.
