Sevco are trying to push Bruno Alves out the door.

According to a report in The Sun the defender is wanted by Vitoria Guimaraes.

With Alves assured of the best part of £30,000 a week for the remaining year of his Ibrox contract there is little chance of those terms being met by a club that finished ninth in the Portuguese League.

A year ago the defender was signed by Pedro Caixinha but missed the Europa League exit to Progres Niederkorn due to Portugal being involved at the Confederations Cup in Russia.

Sevco had paid Cagliari a token fee for the final year of Alves’ contract but the defender failed to live up to expectations- managing just one full game against Celtic.

The Ibrox club would love to get the defender- and a dozen others off the wage bill- but it is certain that the hangover from the Caixinha appointment will linger on for some time.

Eduardo Herrera, Carlos Pena and Fabio Cardoso are all under contract until 2020.

Micky O’Halloran, Andy Halliday and Jason Holt also have two years left on their current contracts.
