Sevco will fund the Steven Gerrard revolution through the sale of Josh Windass!

The former Accrington starlet signed a contract extension in February but according to a number of sources Cardiff City are willing to pay £3m for his services.

Despite flourishing under Graeme Murty and netting 17 goals in the season about to finish Windass is far from popular among Sevco fans.

His fondness for social media to promote his celebrity lifestyle hasn’t always been appreciated alongside lacklustre displays on the park.

In January Preston and Wigan had bids in the region of £500,000 rejected with the latest hype suggesting that £3m is the asking price.

With Neil Warnock a fan of the Ibrox club that offer is unlikely to be contradicted but it’s unlikely that the Cardiff boss will be looking for a luxury player in the EPL.

On Monday Dave King admitted that there was no investment coming into the club with his toxic presence largely responsible for that state of affairs.

Funding last summer’s Pedro Caixinha revolution sent the tribute act further into debt forcing them to turn to Close Brothers to see out the season.

Gerrard takes up his new job on June 1 with virtually the same squad that Murty had to work with.

Jason Cummings, Jamie Murphy, Sean Goss, Dalcio and Russell Martin will return to their parent clubs with Kenny Miller the only member of the first team squad that is out of contract.
