Eagle-eyed Celtic fans have jumped all over a cryptic tweet from Brazilian star Pato.

The midfielder is in his second season in the Chinese Super League with Tainjin Quanjian with a global CV that includes AC Milan, Chelsea, Corinthians, Sao Paulo and Villarreal.

At the age of 28 there is bound to be further moves ahead with yesterday’s message to 1.3m twitter followers causing a stir.

Celtic have still to make any signings since clinching the Double Treble but are unlikely to rush into signing a Brazilian.

In 1999 John Barnes was responsible for the disastrous signing of Rafael Scheidt who was quickly packed back to South America by Martin O’Neill.

Over £5m was lost on that transaction but that didn’t deter O’Neill when he signed up another Brazilian in 2004 to replace Henrik Larsson.

Juninho seemed to have all the credentials after playing for Middlesbrough and Atletico Madrid but only lasted six months with the hoops.

Shortly after signing he was substituted at half-time in a Champions League match at home to Barcelona with his Celtic career never getting off the ground.
