Sevco are lining up another bargain basement swoop with Umar Sadiq the target.

With news from Sevco’s Spanish training camp being carefully orchestrated news has emerged this morning that talks are underway to bring the Roma striker on loan to Ibrox for a season.

It’s understood that talks to sign Jermaine Defoe and Fernando Torres went the same way as the deal to take bring in Martin Skrtel for the Revolution.

With only Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Hardie with Gerrard in Spain there is a chronic lack of striking options for the former Liverpool youth coach to work with.

Although officially a Roma player Sadiq last played for the Italian side in season 2015/16 with the last two seasons spent out on loan at Bologna, Torino and NAC Breda in Holland where he scored five goals.

Glowing reports about his past, his awesome potential and comparisons to other Nigerian strikers are expected with Dave King’s transfer war-chest now empty.

Pressure will now mount on former Manchester City star-spotter Mark Allen to move on last season’s flops with Allan McGregor and Jon Flanagan already brought in to replace Wes Foderingham and James Tavernier.

So far Micky O’Halloran, Jason Holt and Joe Dodoo have been removed from the payroll but big hitters Eduardo Herrera, Fabio Cardosa and Bruno Alves are still draining the company without making any contribution.
