Chris Sutton delivered a blunt verdict on Stuart Armstrong as the midfielder prepares to move to Southampton.
The move comes as little surprise and has been on the cards since the midfielder signed a 12 month contract extension last August.
That deal seemed an uncomfortable compromise from the moment it was signed with the clock ticking down to another stand off.
Good riddance…Armstrong didn’t want to commit last season and didn’t play well last season… good business and good luck to him! https://t.co/fb1Ej00eHs

I like him as a player. He had six good months but didn’t want to commit last season. I think he owed Celtic a bit more respect and loyalty. Decent money and good luck to him but it is good riddance… https://t.co/ZG5yfn1sX3

Armstrong started the 2016/17 season outside of Brendan Rodgers’ side but by November had played his way into the holding midfield role alongside Scott Brown at the expense of Nir Bitton.
When Tom Rogic got injured the former Dundee United man was pushed into the more advanced role and was among the top half dozen performers as Celtic clinched the treble.
That form wasn’t repeated in the season just finished with Armstrong’s departure probably the most predictable move of the transfer window.
