Less than a week after the SFA submitted Sevco’s licence to take part in the Europa League first round draw questions are being asked by UEFA.

According to a report by Phil MacGiollabhain some detailed questions have been raised about the financing of the club.

In a bid to ensure some sort of level playing field clubs are expected to live within their means and not be racking up debt in the hope that it can be recouped through UEFA competitions.

As recently as last month Dave King stated that it was a deliberate policy to run the club at a loss until they reach the group phase of the Champions League.

According to Phil:

It would appear that those chaps in UEFA have lots of very precise questions about the financial standing of the Engine Room Subsidiary.

I’m told that one of the lines of inquiry is that precise nature of the monies Sevco received from Club 1872.

There were suggestions last summer that Sevco weren’t compliant with licence rules but their first round exit to Progres Niederkorn ensured that no investigation was made.

If the club isn’t eligible for the licence some difficult questions could be asked of the SFA.

After finally issuing two Notice of Complaints regarding the 2011 licence issued to the old club the SFA ought to be fully upto date with current licence requirements.
