Out of touch Graeme Souness believes that Celtic aren’t particularly strong as he delivered a preview of the new SPFL season.

Since being sacked by Newcastle a year ago Souness has been unable to get back into management forcing him to chase a career as a pundit.

Despite training with Celtic while at home in Edinburgh he has never hidden his dislike for the seven-in-a-row Scottish champions.

In his last management clash with the hoops he claimed that it had been men against boys after losing a UEFA Cup tie 1-0 as manager of Blackburn, in the return leg the boys won 2-0 at Ewood Park.

Following an interview with BEIN Sport The Sun reports:

I don’t think Celtic are particularly strong.

They’re strong enough to win the Scottish league year on year but you see how strong they are when they go into the Champions League.

They get beaten and beaten quite badly by teams.

It’s not impossible – it really depends on the support Steven gets.”

Souness introduced Dave Murray to the Rangers (IL) board in 1988 with the Edinburgh based businessman getting a loan for £6m to buy a controlling stake in the club.
