Injuries are holding up Mikey Johnston’s potential loan move to St Mirren.

The winger scored in Celtic’s 4-1 win over Standard Liege on Saturday and was strongly linked with a move to Paisley yesterday.

Brendan Rodgers’ squad are already without Jonny Hayes through injury with The Sun revealing that there are worries over two more wide men.

The Celts boss isn’t willing to agree any move yet, with wide men Scott Sinclair and Lewis Morgan carrying knocks.

That leaves Rodgers with James Forrest as the only fit winger.

Johnston could get the chance to make his European debut on Wednesday night when Celtic host Alashkert with a 3-0 lead from the first leg.

In an ideal world the teenager would be staying and playing in the Celtic first team but realistically St Mirren offers him a far better chance of first team football to accelerate his career.

Johnston is wanted on loan by a number of clubs, including Hibs and could feature in any deal that involves John McGinn moving to Celtic.
