Garry Parker has admitted that he’s unsure if John McGinn will be a Celtic player by the end of this week.

Celtic have had a bid for the midfielder rejected but are expected to go back in again and try to agree a deal for a player in the final year of his contract.

McGinn played for an hour yesterday as Hibs lost 2-0 against Blackburn Rovers with Parker unsure whether he’ll be around for Thursday’s Europa League tie against NSI Runavik from the Faroe Isles.

John got stuck in and passed the ball well,” Parker told The Sun. “He could have done better but so could everybody else.

We’ve heard nothing more about the interest in him and, if he’s still here, he’ll be involved on Thursday.

Stevie wasn’t ready to play a full game but he got on the ball and passed it. He’ll be a good addition for us.”

Celtic’s initial bid has been reported as around the £1.5m mark with Hibs looking for between £2.5m and £3m for the 23-year-old.

No other club has expressed an interest in McGinn who broke into the Scotland squad last season.

Hibs are keen to take Scott Allan back to Easter Road with St Mirren due one third of any transfer fee for the player that they sold in 2015.
